The day two mock drafts continue to come in, and one of the NFL draft’s more prominent analysts, Dane Brugler of The Athletic, weighs in with his day two mock draft.
With needs on the offensive line, there are several good options on the board for the Commanders, particularly on the interior. In Brugler’s mock, though, he has Washington going in a different direction.
At No. 47 overall, the Commanders select Georgia tight end Darnell Washington.
If you aren’t familiar with Washington, he’s the super-athletic 6-foot-7, 264-pound tight end who can impact the run game and is also a terrific receiving option.
The Commanders like their tight ends, with veteran Logan Thomas, John Bates and three second-year developmental players, Armani Rogers, Cole Turner and Curtis Hodges.
At No. 97, Brugler has the Commanders selecting Appalachian State EDGE Nick Hampton. Hampton is an undersized Edge rusher who recorded 18 sacks over the final two seasons of his college career.
