Comedian Jason Byrne forced to postpone shows after sudden health scare

Comedian Jason Byrne was rushed to hospital due to a sudden health scare, forcing him to postpone gigs in Scotland and Newcastle.

The Dublin comic said he went to Queen Elizabeth University Hospital in Glasgow after getting "niggles in his chest" yesterday. Byrne was supposed to perform at Glee Club in Glasgow, Scotland and at the Stand in Newcastle this week.

Byrne, 50, reassured fans that the gigs will be moved to future dates. Speaking on Instagram, he said: "So sorry to all @gleeclubglasgow and tonight @standnewcastle got niggles in me chest had to get checked out.

"We’re moving the dates until we know more. Also big thank you to Leslie, Dr Keith and all at Queen Elizabeth University Hospital Glasgow."

Friends and fans took to the comments to wish him a speedy recovery. One person said: "Oh no!! Hope you’re feeling better soon!"

Another person added: "Sending you all the good stuff, Jason. Mind yourself. x" A third fan added: "I hope all is OK. Sounds like you are in good hands there."

The Ballinteer man has struggled with a number of health complications in the past. Last year, Byrne had to get five stents after discovering he had three artery blockages caused by a hereditary condition.
