Colts QB Anthony Richardson Ruled Out With Hip Injury

Indianapolis Colts quarterback Anthony Richardson (5) scrambles out of the reach of Pittsburgh Steelers defensive tackle Cameron Heyward (97) during the first half of an NFL football game Sunday, Sept

During Sunday's game against the Pittsburgh Steelers, Indianapolis Colts quarterback Anthony Richardson suffered a hip injury that forced him out of the game. Richardson left the field twice in the first quarter after taking two significant hits, one to his hip resulting in a fumble and another to his head.

Following the second hit, Richardson was taken to the locker room with a hip injury. Although he returned to the sideline early in the second quarter, he did not re-enter the game. Joe Flacco stepped in for Richardson and threw a 4-yard touchdown pass to Josh Downs, extending the Colts' lead to 14-0 with 2:34 remaining in the first quarter.

Richardson, a second-year player and the No. 4 overall draft pick in 2023, has been plagued by injuries throughout his career. In his rookie season, he played in only four games before a season-ending shoulder injury cut his playing time short.

This latest hip injury adds to Richardson's injury woes, raising concerns about his durability and ability to stay healthy on the field. The Colts will need to rely on Flacco and other backup options to fill the void left by Richardson's absence as they navigate the remainder of the game and potentially future matchups.
