Colts’ Braden Smith ruled out vs. Jaguars in Week 6

Indianapolis Colts right tackle Braden Smith was ruled out on the final injury report Friday ahead of the Week 6 matchup against the Jacksonville Jaguars.

Smith popped up on the injury report this week due to wrist and foot injuries. After not practicing Wednesday, he returned to practice Thursday as a limited participant.

However, Smith didn’t practice Friday and it was revealed he suffered a hip injury during Thursday’s practice.

The optimism that Smith would be good to go after returning to practice has been dashed so it’s likely that rookie Blake Freeland will make his third start of the season, assuming left tackle Bernhard Raimann clears the concussion protocol.

On that note, Raimann and defensive end Kwity Paye are still in the concussion protocol and need to be cleared by the independent neurologist, a decision that likely will come Saturday.

The Colts will release their final injury report with designations later Friday so we’ll have a better idea of what the statuses look like going into this divisional game.
