Colin Farrell said he ‘couldn't be more excited’ as he has been confirmed to star as The Penguin in a new spin off series in the wake of The Batman's box office success.

It has been confirmed that a limited series spinoff of Matt Reeve’s Batman has officially received the green light from streaming service HBO Max, with Dubliner Farrell reprising his role as underworld kingpin Oswald Cobblepot.

“The world that Matt Reeves created for The Batman is one that warrants a deeper gaze through the eyes of Oswald Cobblepot,” Farrell said in a statement.
