A cold weather alert has been put in place for later today going into next week.
The Met Office released information about the cold snap, with temperatures set to drop heading into the new week. The national weather service has revealed that there is a 60% probability of severe cold weather between 6pm today (Sunday, February 5) and 6pm Tuesday, February, 7. The cold snap will cover most of the UK, including Merseyside, with an increase to health risks for vulnerable patients.
Disruptions to delivery services may also come as a result of the dip in temperatures. Long clear spells overnight will see temperatures fall below freezing with frost developing across England. Temperatures will likely return to close to average for the time of year during the day but then drop again in the evening.

The drop in temperature has meant the Met Office has had to put the majority of England at a level two warning meaning social and health care services are working to be ready for swift action to reduce harm as a result of the cold weather.
The Met Office said: "Prolonged periods of cold weather can be dangerous, especially for older people, those with underlying health conditions, and young children. If you’re able, ask if your friends, family or neighbours need any support.
"Stock up foods and medicines so you don’t have to go out too much when it’s cold or icy. When indoors, stay warm, heat homes to at least 18°C, and keep up-to-date with the weather forecast.
"If you want more information about how cold weather can affect your health please visit the NHS website. If you are concerned about your health or somebody you care for, advice can be obtained from NHS Winter Health, NHS or your local pharmacist."
An update will be released when the alert level changes, with the alerts being issued once a day by 9am.
