Coimbatore blast: 'Indoctrination material sourced from Hyderabad'

HYDERABAD: The National Investigation Agency (NIA) suspects that Jamesha Mubeen, who died in the car blast in Coimbatore last year, the origin of his indoctrination took place due to teaching of Turkey based Ahmedullah Baig. It was in connection with Baig's literature NIA and Counter Intelligence Cell (CI- Cell) sleuths of Telangana police conducted raids in the residence of 5 persons in various parts of Hyderabad since Saturday morning.

Apart from Tamil Nadu, raids were conducted in Telangana simultaneously since Saturday morning.

Baig, who is a native of Tamil Nadu, allegedly stayed in Hyderabad for a brief period and it was during this time he came in touch with these five Hyderabad based persons. Later, Baig shared his literature.

"The deceased Jamesha was a student at an Arabic education institute in Coimbatore, where the extremist literature of Turkey based Ahmedullah Baigh was taught as part of their course and it led to his indoctrination. So, during the investigation we wanted to know where they got the radical literature from? It was found that the literature was supplied to the institute from Hyderabad suspectedly by these five persons ," sources associated with the probe told TOI.

However, the five persons from Hyderabad have no link to the Coimbatore blast. "The deceased got into extremism after he came in touch with another Turkey based handler," sources added.

On October 23 last year, a cylinder and explosive laden vehicle exploded close to a religious place in Ukkadam in Coimbatore and Mubeen who was driving died on the spot in the accident.
