A landmark unit opposite Newcastle's Monument could soon be the home of a new coffee shop.
Ideally located for watching the world go by, many people were disappointed to see the former Pret a Manger on 150 Grainger Street close down in 2020.
The business decided against renewing its lease on the site as it battled huge revenue losses following the closure of its network of shops during lockdown.

But now American-Australian coffee chain, Gloria Jean's Coffees, has confirmed it will be opening a franchise branch in the unit.
Estate agent Robinson Webster confirmed that the 'to let' sign will be coming down above the unit after Gloria Jean's Coffees decided to retain the store.
A spokesman for Gloria Jean's Coffees UK said, "I can confirm this store will open," however, details of when the coffee shop will officially welcome customers through its doors is yet to be announced.
Founded in Chicago in 1979 Gloria Jean's Coffees now has more than 600 franchise branches in 40 countries around the world.
The first UK store opened in London in 2019 and there are now branches in Edinburgh and Glasgow.
Newcastle customers can expect a range of coffee roasts designed by Gloria Jeans, alongside sandwiches, croissants and cakes.
