Sep arabica coffee (KCU23) on Monday closed up +6.75 (+4.27%), and Sep ICE robusta coffee (RMU23) closed up +33 (+1.28%).
Coffee prices Monday rose sharply on tightness in supplies. ICE-monitored robusta coffee inventories last Friday fell to a record low of 5,205 lots (data history back to 2016). Also, ICE-monitored arabica coffee inventories last Friday dropped to an 8-month low of 528,752 bags. In addition, coffee is climbing due to a lack of sales by coffee farmers in Brazil, who are holding back supplies in anticipation of higher coffee prices.
