Sep arabica coffee (KCU23) on Thursday closed down -0.85 (-0.53%), and Sep ICE robusta coffee (RMU23) closed down -13 (-0.49%).
Coffee prices Thursday closed moderately lower. An increase in Brazil's coffee exports weighed on coffee prices Thursday after Cecafe reported Brazil's July green coffee exports rose +22% y/y to 2.7 mln bags, with robusta July exports more than tripling to 505,153 bags. Strength in the Brazilian real was a supportive factor for coffee prices after the real (^USDBRL) Thursday climbed to a 1-week high against the dollar. A stronger real discourages export selling from Brazil's coffee producers.
