Arsenal transfer target Cody Gakpo scored on his World Cup debut for the Netherlands as the PSV winger continues to be linked with a move to the Emirates Stadium.
The Gunners are one of several Premier League clubs interested in PSV winger Cody Gakpo, football.london understands. Arsenal hold a long-term interest in the Dutch talent but a summer transfer proved to be difficult due to the player's desire to play regular first team football and boost his chances of starting at the World Cup for his country.
football.london understands that Gakpo is keen to one day play in the Premier League as reports continue to link him with a move to Arsenal. Manchester United are also interested in the 23-year-old who has registered more goal contributions than any other player in Europe across all competitions so far this season.

Gakpo starred for the Netherlands and scored the opening goal against Senegal before Davy Klaassen sealed the win with a second in injury time. Mikel Arteta is said to want a new forward to bolster his attacking options for the second half of the season with the Gunners challenging both domestically and in Europe.
The 23-year-old has similar attributes to that of Thierry Henry with his height and electric pace, coming in off the wing as a clinical finisher inside the penalty box. Arteta has expressed a desire in the past to add more height to his attack which would be a stark contrast to the likes of Gabriel Jesus, Bukayo Saka and Gabriel Martinelli.
Gakpo utilised his aerial ability to head home past Chelsea and Senegal goalkeeper Edouard Mendy, getting one over his potential future London Premier League rival with a brilliant finish. Arteta and Gunners scouts will have likely been watching closely as Gakpo once again showed why he's one of the most talented players in Europe, with Arsenal weighing up a move for the Dutch star.
