Cody Gakpo will not leave PSV Eindhoven this summer to sit on the bench at a new club, the Arsenal and Liverpool target has insisted.
A number of teams are said to be monitoring the Dutch winger, but he has opened the door to staying in the Eredivisie through the summer to ensure his place in the Netherlands squad for the World Cup later this year.
“Anything can happen this summer,” he told De Telegraaf.
“I will now calmly compare all the options and see what is best for me. Staying another year is also an option.
“It would be a shame if I went somewhere where I wouldn’t get played at all and I could miss the World Cup. I’ll keep that in mind.”
Gakpo has contributed 21 goals and 15 assists for PSV this season, helping lift the Dutch Cup having come through the club’s academy.
Manchester United and Manchester City have also been tipped to consider a bid of around £30million for the 23-year-old.
