Cocoa Prices Retreat as Cocoa Crop Quality Concerns in West Africa Ease

May ICE NY cocoa (CCK23) on Monday closed down -65 (-2.22%), and May ICE London cocoa #7 (CAK23) closed down -38 (-1.76%).

Cocoa prices Monday settled moderately lower.  Reduced cocoa crop quality concerns in West Africa have fueled long liquidation in cocoa futures.  Ivory Coast and Ghana cocoa farmers report cocoa bean counts of 115 per 100 grams for this year’s mid-crop, above the average of 80 to 100 per 100 grams that cocoa exporters typically look for.
