One hundred and twenty seven people in Merseyside have outstanding disqualifications recorded on the government's Insolvency Service Register.
Individuals are usually put on the register as part of a sentencing exercise for a crime they've committed. But it can also be for various business-related misdemeanours such as filing for bankruptcy or failing to report figures.
The maximum time someone can spend on the register is fifteen years. If they are found to be starting, running or marketing a business in the UK or in a connected country while banned, they can be jailed for up to two years.
