Clyde submit final bid for new ground that they hope takes them back to Glasgow

Clyde FC Community Foundation has submitted the final documents in their bid to take over Crownpoint Sports Complex from Glasgow City Council.

It is hoped that the League Two club, which is currently ground-sharing at Hamilton Accies' New Douglas Park, can use the site near the Gallowgate in Glasgow to build a new stadium, nearly four decades after leaving Shawfield.

Submitting their proposal through the People Make Glasgow Communities (PGMC) process, the club intends to establish a full-size and five-a-side pitches, athletics track, buildings and parking.

A community stadium would be built at the southern end of the site, which would become Clyde's new home.

Clyde say they can take on the complex and have it operating to the full potential for the community it serves.

They face a rival bid for the site, with their paperwork to be submitted by the end of today, but the club are confident they will win through.

A decision is expected to be made in September.

A statement issued today by the club reads: "While we take nothing for granted, as a club we are confident in the quality of the Community Foundation's submission and will be sharing details of it with owners very shortly."

Clyde FC Community Foundation's interim chairman, Gordon Nisbet, said: "I would like to express my sincere gratitude to the many individuals who contributed over the past nine months to the preparation and submission of our proposal for the Crownpoint Complex.

"Their hard work, dedication and creativity have resulted in a very professional and persuasive application that showcases our strengths and expertise.

"Clyde Foundation and Clyde Football Club, along with consultant partners, are proud of what we have achieved together in collaboration, delivery of a high-quality submission."
