Club Wembley: The luxury way to see the beautiful game

Perhaps scenes from Liverpool’s euphoric FA Cup left you desperate for a piece of the Wembley action — or you’d love to be pitchside to watch the Lionesses at Euro 2022? Tickets to big games at the national stadium are like gold dust, but if you’re happy to join the prawn sandwich brigade for the afternoon, there’s always Club Wembley — aka the hospitality hotseats, where the pies are haute and there’s Champagne on tap (almost).

Line-ups

No two teams are alike; no two lounges are either. Besides renting a private box — yours for a cool £37,200 — the most exclusive option is One Twenty, an exclusive lounge with mouth-watering views of the pitch, canapes everywhere and drinks on tap. Football legends stalk the room in the Bobby Moore lounge (don’t stare), where you’ll also get a three-course meal and the odd live band. When the Standard visited, there was Laurent Perrier on tap and (very) fancy veggie pies at half time.

The bar at Number Nine (Club Wembley)

Meanwhile, At Number Nine, so-named because of the England legends to wear the shirt, it’s all about the cutting-edge cuisine (though you’re next to the royal box, so mind your language). After a pub with a difference? The Three Lions does high-end pub food and enough beer to get you through even the most grueling penalty shoot-out. For the fanatic, The Lioness has three bars and a self-service beer station — and its walls are lined with photographs, trophies and football memorabilia of some of the national team’s most iconic moments. Here’s to making more in future tournaments.

Join the club

If you’re convinced, you could become a member — advantages include complimentary food and drink, priority access to the best events, from concerts to huge games, and the chance to attend exclusive experiences, like dining in the England changing room (players not included, sadly), playing on the hallowed green turf or watching the team train at Wembley.

Membership also guarantees seats for the FA Cup final and semi-final, England international games (Alexa: play Sweet Caroline) and the Carabao Cup. You’ll also get priority access to purchase concert tickets. Next up, it’s Harry Styles (now you’re really interested).

The details

Convinced? Memberships start from £2,466 and see clubwembley.com for details. On match day, it’s easy to arrive in style: Wembley Park is on the Jubilee and Met lines, or there’s Wembley Stadium and Wembley Central Stations. Prawn sandwiches never tasted so good.
