As well as an abundance of celebrations, the Jubilee weekend could bring with it a bit of sun, which is expected to be light at the end of a very rainy tunnel. The start of this week is forecast to be full of showers and even a bit of thunder.
But by the time Thursday (June 2) rolls around, us here in the south west could be enjoying our Jubilee celebrations in a little bit of sunshine. According to the Met Office, the start of this week looked set to see "a mix of sunshine and showers" which would turn "heavy and possibly thundery at times".
Monday's forecast (May 30) predicted more showers during the day and temperatures reaching as low as three degrees. While Today's forecast (Tuesday, May 31) is set to consist of heavy showers during the morning and sunshine developing through the afternoon, with a maximum temperature of 18C.
As we get to the Jubilee weekend, The Met Office predicts things will get a bit warmer with further showers and sunny spells on Wednesday and dry sunny spells on Thursday, but with the "return of a shower risk" on Friday. Saturday and Sunday look to be predominantly cloudy, with sunny spells and highs of around 18 or 19 degrees - pretty perfect for a Jubilee party or two.
UK long range weather forecast from the Met Office
The Met Office predicts that weather between Saturday, June 4 and Monday, June 13 will be: "Generally more settled conditions for most initially, with plenty of fine, sunny weather. Cloudiest conditions likely for the far north with the odd spot of light rain, perhaps more persistent across Shetland.
"Some showers, potentially heavy, may clip the far south or southeast over the weekend, but most areas remaining dry. Unsettled conditions are likely to return into the new week, with rain and strong winds arriving from the west.
"Temperatures generally close to average, but locally warm mainly in the north and west, and feeling warm in the sunshine, but still cool by night. Settled weather then returns, likely bringing drier conditions to western areas.
"Cloudier conditions and showers may remain in the east. Temperatures generally above average, but likely to be normal to rather cool in the northeast."
