A closure date for a troubled homeless unit is yet to be decided by South Lanarkshire Council.
Lanarkshire Live revealed in June that East Kilbride's Lindsay House was set to be closed as part of wider plans to shake-up the provision of homeless accommodation in the area by the local authority.
SLC carried out a review of its temporary accommodation and now have plans to transform the service - but proposals are still being developed.
Fears were raised by Village traders and residents that booze and drug-fuelled anti-social behaviour linked to Lindsay House was turning the conservation area in to a 'no-go zone'.
A Freedom of Information request by the East Kilbride News revealed that police attended more than 700 times in just two-years before our high profile press campaign highlighted continued problems there.
Indeed, just this week, two people believed to be associated with the home appeared in court accused of attempted murder.
That followed an alleged incident in Montgomery Street in the early evening of Friday (April 29).
There, a 50-year-old man was taken to hospital by paramedics suffering from serious injuries.
Lindsay House consists SLC-run emergency accommodation and a unit which deals with residents who have addiction and mental health issues operated by the charity Ypeople.
A spokesman for SLC told us: “The position remains as previously stated that, linked to the council’s wider plans for tackling homelessness and providing suitable temporary and supported accommodation across the council area, proposals for the re-provisioning of services currently provided from Lindsay House remain in development.
“Services currently provided from Lindsay House will continue with no definitive date for its closure at this time.”
