Clorox is recalling about 6.3 million bottles of scented Mistolin and Lestoil multi-purpose cleaners sold in Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands because the products may contain bacteria, including Pseudomonas aeruginosa. The action covers a very large number of units, and it is aimed at a narrow group of people rather than the general public.
The Consumer Product Safety Commission notice issued Sept. 3, 2026, states plainly who is at risk. People with weakened immune systems or external medical devices who are exposed to the organism face a risk of serious infection that may require medical treatment, the agency said, adding that people with healthy immune systems are "usually not affected by the bacteria."
