The Lions are adding talent at the wide receiver position just ahead of the 2023 NFL trade deadline, coming to terms on a deal with the Browns for Donovan Peoples-Jones, the teams announced Tuesday afternoon.
The Lions and Browns both announced the move less than an hour before the 4 p.m. ET deadline, revealing that Cleveland will receive a sixth-round pick in exchange for the fourth-year pro.
Peoples-Jones, a sixth-round pick by Cleveland in the 2020 NFL draft, has caught just eight passes for 97 yards this season while seeing limited action. Over his career with the Browns, he’s totaled 117 receptions for 1,837 yards and eight touchdowns while playing in 50 games.
The move represents a homecoming for Peoples-Jones, who played at Cass Tech High in Detroit and the University of Michigan. He totaled 103 receptions for 1,327 yards and 14 touchdowns during his three seasons with the Wolverines from 2017 through ’19.
