A beard can look rough even when it’s perfectly clean. Maybe the cheeks look patchy, the neckline resembles an abandoned construction project, or a few wiry hairs stick out no matter how much brushing they receive. Growing more facial hair won’t necessarily solve any of those problems. Often, a beard needs better shaping, a little maintenance, and less enthusiastic trimming.
The frustrating part is that small grooming mistakes can change the entire look. An otherwise handsome beard can appear neglected because its edges wander, its length doesn’t suit its shape, or the skin underneath looks flaky. Fortunately, most of these problems don’t require expensive products or a professional barber on speed dial.
