Claudia Winkleman looks unrecognisable without famous fringe in unearthed video

Claudia Winkleman looks unrecognisable without her famous fringe in a recently unearthed video.

The Traitors star, 51, is known for her glossy bangs, which have become her signature style.

However, the Strictly Come Dancing host didn't always rock the heavy black fringe we're so used to seeing her with.

In a throwback video from 2003 the mum-of-three wears her hair in a side-parting as she interviews Frasier star Jane Leeves for the BBC.

Claudia's hair colour is also a lot lighter than it is now - and so is her fake tan.

Fans couldn't get over how different she looked in the fresh-faced clip, with one writing: “I think this is the first time I’ve seen Claudia Winkleman’s forehead.”

Another said: “The lack of fringe is the real archive matter of interest here!”

“While a third teased: "Hello Claudia. We can see you!”

With her thick, glossy fringe and "orange" (her words) fake tan, the presenter has developed a unique style when it comes to her appearance.

Claudia also readily admits to "wearing enough eyeliner to kill a clown" - as well as sleeping in her make-up.

She has now had the second series of BBC hit show The Traitors ‘confirmed’, with a show source telling The Mirror the nail-biting programme will be renewed.

The insider said: “These days almost every new series is a reboot of something that's gone before.

“So it’s really nice to try something fresh – and for it to do well. The Traitors got everyone talking, so bringing it back was a no-brainer. Claudia was perfect."

Claudia said of the show: “I was in deep. I cry at the end. I haven't cried in, like, 20 series of Strictly - with this I was on the floor sobbing. Inconsolable.

"It's a game of smarts, not a game of luck. It's a game of wit. It's an awful lot of money. I was myself and at the end I'm sobbing on the floor. There are so many twists."

The series kicked off with 3.9million viewers in November and quickly established itself as a jewell in the Beeb's crown.

By the last episode, just before Christmas, it pulled in 4.6million, including 35% of the sought-after 16-34 audience.

BBC bosses were bowled over by the success of the first run of the show, in which 22 players are split into loyal faithfuls or traitors.

Once again set at the 19th century Ardross Castle, 25 miles north of Inverness, the second series is due to start filming later this summer.
