Aled introduced the show where he began: "This morning we are going to remember and celebrate the life of our dear friend and colleague Bill Turnbull."
He said it was 'impossible' to fit everything into three hours, describing Bill as a 'brilliant broadcaster and friend'.
Aled went on to ask those listening to text in with their memories of Bill, whether that was related to the radio show or not.
He then on to play the first song for a 'few moments of quiet reflection'.
Personal tributes were spread across the programme, including one from his colleague Sian Williams.
She began: " 30 years ago I was a rookie radio producer and that's when I first met and worked with Bill Turnbull."
While talking about their three decade friendship, she said she didn't need to say what a 'lovely man' Bill was because you 'felt it'.
Sian explained that Bill was the same off-air as he was on-air before going on to tell a story about how Bill persuaded her to get a dog.
Having been scared of dogs at first, Bill wanted Sian to get one of her own and eventually he managed to persuade her as she went on to get a black Labrador the same as Bill's.
Sian finished her tribute with: " What I'll remember him most for is that twinkle in his eye and that warmth in his smile, he is a loyal friend and I think we are all going to miss him."
Throughout the show, Aled read out messages from listeners who shared personal memories they had of Bill.
The special programme also raised awareness of prostate cancer and encouraged more men to get themselves checked.
Bill passed away after having cancer for five years.
His wife Sarah, known as Sesi, released a statement read out on BBC Breakfast on Thursday, paying tribute to Bill as they announced he had passed away peacefully at his home in Suffolk on Wednesday.

"The last week of his life was very special as the whole family was with him and they shared some wonderful moments.
