The Jets’ matchup against the Broncos has been circled on the calendar since Denver coach Sean Payton delivered his scathing remarks about New York offensive coordinator Nathaniel Hackett’s stint in the Mile High City last season.
During the week, despite Hackett telling reporters that he was no longer worried about Payton’s previous banter, multiple players supported their coach. On Sunday, Jets tight end C.J. Uzomah carried over that energy with a vigorous pregame speech as players took the field at Empower Field at Mile High.
“Their coach [Sean Payton] made this personal… well f—k him and f—k them, let’s go win this s—t for Nathaniel Hackett,” Uzomah said.

In July, Payton placed blame on Hackett for Denver’s struggles last season, saying it was “one of the worst coaching jobs in the history of the NFL.”
Both the Jets (1-3) and Broncos (1-3) are seeking to register their second win of the season in Sunday’s contest.
