Kimpton Maa-Lai Bangkok presents an extraordinary Christmas tree created by celebrated Thai artist Saruta “Pin” Kiatparkpoom of PiN Metal Art.
Pin’s unique style reincarnates metal and repurposes what people consider to be waste to give it a rebirth and second life. With sustainability and the season’s spirit in mind, this custom-made Christmas tree draws inspiration from Thai Bai Sri, a sacred element in Thai culture that is part of a blessing ceremony performed to bestow happiness and prosperity on a person or place. Thai Bai Sri is traditionally made from banana leaves woven into three levels representing the three steadfast moral principles society must embrace pertaining to correct physical, verbal and mental behaviour.
The tiered structure, similar to traditional Christmas trees, is created with lamps that illuminate its surrounds with joyous holiday sparkles.
After bestowing its brilliant glow and spirit at Kimpton Maa-Lai Bangkok, the tree will be dismantled and its elements redistributed again, keeping alive the spirit of sustainability and goodwill.
