Christine McGuinness has spoken out about the 'biggest support' in her life following her split from her husband Paddy McGuinness. The model and autism campaigner is currently preparing for the release of her first solo documentary which will see her reveal how autism in women and girls has been ignored and misunderstood by science and society, leaving thousands of women undiagnosed.
Christine, who is the proud mum of twins Penelope and Leo, nine, and youngest daughter Felicity, six, who she shares with Paddy and who all have autism, revealed she had also been diagnosed with the developmental disability caused by differences in the brain that affects how people communicate and interact with the world towards the end of 2021.
Her new film, Christine McGuinness: Unmasking My Autism, which airs on Wednesday (March 15), follows the BBC One documentary Paddy and Christine McGuinness: Our Family and Autism, screened in November 2021, in which they met other parents, experts and people on the autism spectrum. The programme also followed Christine's diagnosis.
The mum-of-three has already revealed that she stayed in her marriage to Bolton-born TV presenter Paddy because it was "safe" and she "doesn’t like change", which she realised after being diagnosed with autism. She announced that she had split from Question of Sport presenter Paddy, 49, last July.
But speaking about the 'biggest support' in her life, former Real Housewives of Cheshire star Christine heaped praise on her three young children. "Who is the biggest support in my life? It’s my children and they don’t even know it,” she told OK! Magazine. "The love and support, the laughter that they give me, the way that they’re growing up and dealing with their own little challenges at such a young age, gives me all the motivation and inspiration I need and that’s my support."
It comes after Christine shared her joy as her book topped the Amazon charts last weekend within days of its release. Posting a string of pictures of herself amid her busy promotion trial for both the book and her documentary, she added a screenshot showing Amazing Me, Amazing You, at number one in the best sellers list.
"My kids said I’m cool for being an author. Best compliment ever!!!" Christine shared. She then added: "(Number 1 best selling author but I don’t like to brag about it). These last couple of days have been a very chaotic dream. I have been inundated with love and support. Thank you for sharing your stories with me!"
Meanwhile, the 34-year-old has joked about her own 'audacity' as she shared a behind-the-scenes look at one of her latest glam photoshoots. Christine looked sensational as she posed in front of the cameras in an array of outfits, including a figure-hugging black dress which boasts a single sleeve before jumping into a pair of leather trousers and hot pink corset-style top.
"BTS," she started the caption of her post to her loyal followers. "The audacity posting this video whilst I’m still in my pjs at home with my 3 little loves having the laziest day," Christine laughed. "Dreamy Sunday for me."
She also took to her Instagram Story as she gave her hundreds of thousands of followers a glimpse into some of her habits as she appeared to take a fleeting trip to Amsterdam. Sppearin to be in an airport, Christine was captured smiling away from the camera as she wrote: "When I'm nervous or anxious, I hold my hands and play with my fingers a lot.
"I actually sit on my hands if I'm irritating myself or feeling like I'm being very 'obvious'. Little things [like] that I'm ok with now." She then added: "More on this lil trip coming soon."
