Christian Pulisic in transfer declaration after Mauricio Pochettino snub

Christian Pulisic has spoken about his woes after Mauricio Pochettino made a decision on the USMNT star's Chelsea future following a frustrating season.

The incoming Blues manager has seemingly deemed the American to be surplus to requirements this summer as he looks to transform a squad that finished in a lowly 12th place in the Premier League back into challengers. The 24-year-old struggled to get a look in last term under both Thomas Tuchel and Frank Lampard, starting just eight games and it appears time is up on his four-year stay in West London.

Now it appears that the Argentinian coach is willing to cut his losses on the attacker who joined from Borussia Dortmund for £58million ($73m)in 2019. According to ESPN, a fee of just £20million ($25m) could be sufficient to see owner Todd Boehly sanction a deal, with the winger's contract about to enter its final year.

Now, Pulisic has opened up on his struggles last season after joining up with his national team ahead of a CONCACAF Nations League semi-final clash with Mexico. He told ESPN: "It's been a really tough season for me personally and for our team of course at a club level. So for me it's just about coming in here and having a fresh start and being able to be a part of a team that hopefully can come out and win some games.

"So I'm really excited to be here and just to get some minutes on the field and just get back to being that confident player that I know I can be in and just find my footing again and just enjoying the game because it feels like it's been tough to do that lately."

As it stands, it looks as though the Pennsylvanian ace will not be short on suitors ahead of next season, with teams from the Premier League and Europe keeping tabs on his availability. As per the report from ESPN, Manchester United and Newcastle United could well take a punt on the mercurial forward, with Italian giants AC Milan, Juventus and Napoli also interested.

Pulisic's compatriot, the former USMNT and Leicester City goalkeeper Kasey Keller has tipped the forward to rediscover the kind of form that earned him a move to Stamford Bridge once he moves on. He previously told the Mirror: “The question will be, who is interested? I think there's quite a few.

“I wouldn't be surprised if he ends up in Italy or just some place to kind of reset. Whatever the reason was, there were times when obviously he had a good run and you thought, ‘okay he's turned the corner.’

He added: “Then it's either an injury or whatever and he has to start back up. Then there's also been multiple managerial changes. I think either go back to Germany or go to Italy - start over. I was with him in the national team as a staff member when he came through. The quality is obvious - he's a very, very good player. He just need to find the right situation.”
