Music producer Jaime González revealed during a legal hearing that his son and client, Christian Nodal, along with his team, were allegedly threatened with losing their U.S. visas in 2022 if they attempted to work in Venezuela.
González, who also serves as the legal representative for JG Música, JG Entertainment, and Producciones Ladon, shared this information during a Zoom court hearing related to a breach-of-contract lawsuit. The video of his statement was obtained by TV Azteca's show 'Ventaneando' and aired both on television and social media.
"My name is Jesús Jaime González Terrazas, legal representative of the companies," González stated. "As I recall, we received an email from the United States essentially blacklisting us—threatening to cancel Christian Nodal's visas if we entered that country [Venezuela]."
González emphasized that Nodal's team performs between 30 to 50 shows annually in the U.S., a practice that has been ongoing for six to seven years. "We informed Alive [Productions] about the notice, requested that they return the appropriate advance payment, and cancel the date in a timely manner," he added.
Christian Nodal's and his trips to Venezuela
These statements surfaced amid a $2 million lawsuit filed by Alive Productions against Nodal and his team for failing to fulfill commitments for other concerts in Colombia.
Although the canceled Venezuela show is not part of this lawsuit, it was brought up during the attorneys' questioning as it involved the same production company.
The concert in question was scheduled as part of Nodal's 'Forajido Tour' on April 9, 2022, at the CCCT event center in Caracas.
However, almost a year later, Nodal performed at the same venue as part of his 'Foraji2 Tour' without facing any reported visa or work permit issues. Since then, Nodal has successfully completed tours across the continent, including the 'Pal Cora Tour' with dozens of dates.
It remains unclear whether González provided evidence of the email he claimed to have received or identified the agency that allegedly sent it. ENSTARZ ¡Latino! reached out to Nodal's team for clarification, but no response was received at the time of publication.
