While many media members try to concoct a war between Cam Newton and Brock Purdy, there’s one who just wanted to find some common ground for the two.
So a well-deserved shoutout goes to Sheena Quick of FOX Sports Radio 1340 AM, who attended Super Bowl Opening Night on Monday and tried to find that peace.
With Newton’s opinions on Purdy going viral throughout a good chunk of the season, Quick asked the perfect subject for a few similarities between the former Carolina Panthers star and the current San Francisco 49ers quarterback—former Carolina Panthers star and current San Francisco 49ers running back Christian McCaffrey.
“Yeah, Brock and Cam—they look alike, they play alike and I think there’s a lot of different similarities,” he said jokingly. “I think both of them have that underdog mentality at all times and both of them carry a big chip on their shoulder. Both great leaders . . . and winners.”

Newton has been catching heat for labeling Purdy as a “game manager.” Most recently, he ranked the second-year passer as the 10th-best player on the 49ers roster.
While the 2015 Most Valuable Player has stressed (to a pretty stressful degree) that he believes Purdy is indeed a good quarterback, that label and that ranking has folks exercising one of the most exhaustive theories in Carolina history: Cam Newton makes people stupid.
And if Newton does indeed hit radio row in Las Vegas this week, that theory is probably in for some insane aerobics.
