Christian Eriksen leaves Old Trafford on crutches after Man United ace injured in Reading win

Manchester United midfielder Christian Eriksen was seen leaving Old Trafford on crutches after the midfielder went off injured in the Reds' FA Cup fourth round win over Reading on Saturday night.

Erik ten Hag's side secured their spot in the next round of the competition with a comfortable 3-1 win over the Championship outfit, with Casemiro (2) and Fred both on the scoresheet for the home side. It was another successful night for the Reds as they continue to be the only side in England still competing on all four fronts.

However, there was one negative on Saturday night as Eriksen was forced off with an ankle injury in the second half. The 30-year-old was on the wrong end of a robust tackle from Reading striker Andy Carroll and was replaced by Fred.

After the match, Eriksen left Old Trafford on crutches and wearing a protective boot. It remains to be seen how long the midfielder will be sidelined for, but he will certainly be missed after impressing since his summer arrival.

When asked to provide an injury update on the former Tottenham man, Ten Hag said: "It is always difficult to say so short after the game finished. But it is an ankle injury, and we have to see what is the diagnosis."

Eriksen has only missed one match in all competitions so far this season, with the midfielder absent for the goalless draw with Newcastle back in October. He has registered two goals and nine assists.

The Reds continue in domestic cup action next week when they take on Nottingham Forest in their Carabao Cup semi-final second-leg tie on Wednesday night. United have a 3-0 aggregate lead after cruising past Steve Cooper's side earlier this week.
