Christian Eriksen is the latest subject of Manchester United’s interests this summer, with reports suggesting the club have made an offer to the Denmark international.
Eriksen is available as a free agent, with the short-term contract he signed at Brentford due to expire at the end of the month. Having impressed since his return to action at the start of the year, the 30-year-old is unlikely to be short of offers this summer.
Since making his comeback after suffering a cardiac arrest at last summer’s European Championship, Eriksen helped Brentford to seven wins in the 11 games he appeared in. That helped the Bees safely secure another season of Premier League football, having been in a precarious position before his arrival.

Due to his performances, the Bees are understandably keen to retain his services next season, while a return to Tottenham has also been touted. According to The Athletic, United have made their move, making an offer to sign the Dane.
It’s not the first time United have been linked to Eriksen, although they perhaps stand a better chance on this occasion with the midfielder available for free. And, encouragingly for United, he hasn't ruled out the possibility of moving to a club who can't offer him Champions League football.
“I have different offers and options, which we are considering, and then we make a decision,” Eriksen told Viaplay earlier this year.
“I would love to play Champions League football again. I know how much fun it is, but it isn’t essential for me.”
United, of course, missed out on Champions League football for next season after limping to a sixth-placed finish, and their failure to do so could end up costing them in their pursuit of targets this summer. But with Eriksen suggesting it’s not the be-all and end-all, they should be firmly in the race for his signature should their reported interest be confirmed.
