Christian Eriksen has heaped praise on Scott McTominay for the role he has played in Manchester United's recent resurgence.
United made the worst possible start under Erik ten Hag and were bottom of the Premier League after suffering back-to-back defeats against Brighton and Brentford in the opening two games of the season.
But the Dutchman has steadied the ship and saw his side embark on a four-match unbeaten run prior to Thursday night's underwhelming 1-0 defeat against Real Sociedad in the Europa League.
Despite that defeat, Eriksen is adamant that the club are on the right track - and he reserved special praise for his midfield partner, who has been impressive in recent weeks.
McTominay was expected to lose his place in the team following the £60million capture of Casemiro, but the United academy graduate has retained his spot ahead of the Brazilian midfielder and his international teammate, Fred.
And the Scottish midfielder has impressed alongside Eriksen, who has pulled the strings for United in a new deeper role. Erikson told official club media : “Scott has done very well and I think you can see that from the games.
“I think in the first few ones we were looking for each other a bit and seeing where we are, but now I think we are starting to get a good connection and a good feeling of where you should be, and also because of the instructions of the manager as he has the positions he would like us to be in.

“So first of all we need to focus on our partnership and, at the same time, we need to focus on where the manager wants us to be. I think it’s gone well, but also when you win games it’s just easier to look back and the confidence builds up and you forget the small mistakes you make and remember the good things.
“There are a lot of things we can improve, but it’s a good road we’re on.”
Just weeks after looking like the odd man out, McTominay has seemingly muscled his way into Ten Hag's plans.
Ten Hag has chosen to ease Casemiro into life in the Premier League following his summer switch from Real Madrid, but McTominay's resurgence, coupled with Eriksen's impressive form, has given him a real selection headache in the middle of the park.
It remains to be seen who will get the nod to anchor Manchester United's midfield with Bruno Fernandes likely to continue in an advanced role after finding form again under Ten Hag.
And Eriksen's endorsement could go some way to convincing Ten Hag to persist with the pairing in the weeks ahead.
