Newcastle United striker Chris Wood believes transfer target Garang Kuol must be a top talent if the Magpies are looking to bring him to Tyneside in the near future. The youngster, 18, has flourished in his native Australia and made his international debut against Wood's New Zealand at the weekend.
Newcastle are close to securing a deal for Kuol which will see him leave Central Coast Mariners before going out on loan in order to gain a work permit. The teenage sensation is the talk of the Australian footballing world and Wood believes he must fit the bill if the Eddie Howe's side are keen.
“I haven’t seen him play, but I’ve heard a lot about him over the week or two, with the link,” Wood told the Sydney Morning Herald. “I’m sure he’s a very exciting talent if a club like us are looking at him, especially with where the club’s going to go in the next few years.”

Kuol's performances Down Under have caught the attention of other clubs across Europe, including Borussia Dortmund and Celtic. The Scottish outfit hoped to have a secret weapon in the battle to sign the Aussie sensation due to manager Ange Postecoglou having close links to the Socceroos after his work with the national side.
"It's great to see. We love young talent, we always get excited by it. He looks like he's got something special about him, which is great," Postecoglou told KeepUp when asked about Kuol last week. "He's in the national team now and that's another great platform for him.
"A lot of somebody's football career is about timing and he might be timing his run perfectly. Going to a World Cup at such a young age and hopefully making an impact and changing his life. I hope he goes well."
