A smattering of sarcasm and a dollop of criticism was the recipe for another hearty Hotline feast of differing opinion.
Our columnist Chris Sutton was the target of a couple of critics for claiming that Michael Beale lacked class by saying Ange Postecoglou was lucky to have the most money to spend in the transfer market. But let's get the sarcastic calls out of the way first.
Andy Logan, Livingston, emailed: "Rangers are really ripping it up - beating teams they would expect to nine times out of 10. Champions League final is a real possibility…….. oh wait they won’t be at the top table yet again!" And Jake Curley, Edinburgh, said: "How great are Rangers now we are going toe to toe with the Manchester City of Glasgow’s east end. We’re matching their mega-bucks spending and their super Angeball football. Thank you for your business model and all your financial advice."
Onto our man Sutton and Jamie Thompson, Clydebank, said: "It's time Chris Sutton kept his mouth closed. Hardly a day goes by without him slagging Rangers as a club, their manager and players. Chris thinks his beloved club is the be all and end all of Scottish football. It's embarrassing."
And James Robertson, Glasgow, emailed: "So Sutton says Beale showed a lack of class in his comments about Postecoglou. What a cheek - this is the guy who accused Dunfermline of lying down to Rangers, which is a much more serious accusation."
Frank McFerran, Carrickfergus, said: "I see Chris Sutton is at it again concerning Michael Beale, saying he lacks class, that’s Sutton’s mantra. The only person who lacks class is him."
Robert Livingstone, Palm Beach, wasn't too pleased with Rangers display against Ross County. He emailed: "The big high at Tynecastle became a let down against a not bad Ross County side. With a bit of good fortune they got the precious points, Cantwell though was the best for Gers, there's a touch of class about him, which is not the case for McLaughlin who was badly at fault for the goal. This chopping and changing goalies every week is something you should never do, it doesn't give either goalie a ring of confidence with the League Cup final coming, Beale should always have his best No 1 in, and no argument, it's McGregor."
Gordon Henry, Ochiltree, said: "After an outstanding performance against Hearts in midweek, Rangers turned in a mediocre performance against eleven men behind the ball Ross County. Granted it wasn't helped by one of the worst goalkeepers at Ibrox who gifted County their goal in the second half. Surely Michael Beale will bench McLaughlin after this and give young McCrorie a chance."
The Alfredo Morelos goal celebration at Tynecastle, is still the subject of debate. Rab Hunter said: "Every player should have the right to celebrate scoring a goal how they want (within reason), however, particularly after a lengthy VAR delay, to run directly away from your own supporters in order to try and antagonise opposing fans does make you an idiot, especially if you play for one of the so-called bigger teams - ergo Morelos IS undoubtedly an idiot!"
Sandy Bryce emailed: "Celtic supporters saying Hearts lie down to Rangers is pathetic. Hearts want to qualify for Europe and I think dropping 12 points would definitely hinder their chances."
Joe Sneddon , emailed: "Celtic fans are showing themselves up big time. Richest club in Scotland, biggest fan base in Scotland also quickest to desert their club in Scotland and still they have an obsession with the most successful team in Europe. Jealous because we have reached two European finals since they last did it and even managed to squeeze a visit to the lower leagues . And they are just a bad run of games ahead of us."
Stephen Johnstone, Ardentinny, emailed: "If Ange Postecoglou and his Celtic players' heads and egos get any bigger they won't get in the dressing room door. They have won nothing and only can be judged when the league is mathematically over and remember Rangers can still win both cups as well as the league, so big Ange better hope it does not come back and bite him and his players on the backside."
Finally, Davy Cook, Edinburgh, had a message of support for Hibs chairman Ron Gordon, who has revealed he is fighting cancer. He said: "Running a football club is hard enough, but also dealing with off-field problems is even harder. Get well soon, Ron."
