Chris Rock has reportedly claimed he turned down the opportunity to do a tell-all interview with Oprah Winfrey following the Oscars slap ordeal.
Comedian Chris, 57, was slapped by Will Smith on stage at this year's Oscars Academy Awards ceremony after he compared Jada Pinkett Smith to GI Jane in a joke about her hair.
Will, who is said to be in talks to resume the biopic on his life, later apologised to Chris in a video posted to his YouTube page, as he said: "Chris; I apologise to you, my behaviour was unacceptable and I'm here whenever you're ready to talk."
Now, it's been claimed that Chris said during a stand up performance that he was offered the chance to do his own tell-all chat about the incident, sitting down with Oprah Winfrey.
However, according to reports, the comedian said he turned the offer down as he is determined not to "be a victim".
An audience member at Chris' Arizona Financial Theatre show told Entertainment Tonight: "During the evening, he did describe that he declined an offer to go onto Oprah to do to a sit-down interview and even a Super Bowl commercial with Will Smith himself."
They added: "He said, 'You are not gonna see me on any interviews crying my heart out about this. I am not going to be a victim'."
The crowd member went on: "I think we were all wondering if he was going to talk about that incident or not."
A chat with Oprah, who's most recent notable interviews include Adele and Meghan Markle, isn't the only high-profile opportunity Chris has reportedly claimed to have rejected of late, too.
As it's also been claimed Chris said during the same gig that he turned down hosting the next Oscars Award ceremony, too.
According to Arizona Republic, Chris told fans at his Phoenix stand-up gig of the show's approach. He is said to have told the audience that returning to the award ceremony would be like returning to a crime scene.
He jibed how going back to the biggest night in Hollywood would be like asking Nicole Brown Simpson "to go back to the restaurant," referencing the events that led to her death and the subsequent OJ Simpson murder trial.
However, Chris' joke about Nicole Brown Simpson's was slammed by her sister Tayna Brown, who told TMZ she felt the joke was "distasteful", "tacky" and disrespectful to Nicole's surviving family members.
She added that the joke "wasn't just unfunny, it literally doesn't make sense". And added the two events were like comparing "apples to oranges" and is "lacking in logic and a basic connection".
Meanwhile, it's been reported that Chris has "no plans" to reply to Will's video apology as a source has told ET of the situation: "Chris has no plans to reach out to Will [even though he] would love nothing more than for Chris to publicly accept his apology."
