Dozens of Chinese warplanes and multiple naval ships were reported around the island of Taiwan this week, marking the largest coordinated display of military force this year. The Taiwanese Ministry of National Defense (MND) detected at least 30 planes and nine ships in Taiwan's air defense identification zone (ADIZ).
The MND announced via social media that 20 of the aircraft entered Taiwan's northern, middle line, and southwest ADIZ. The Republic of China Armed Forces monitored the situation and responded with appropriate force.
The Republic of China, the official name of Taiwan, witnessed this display of military force by the People's Liberation Army (PLA) following a phone call between leaders of the People's Republic of China and the United States.
