Millions of children across England will be able to travel on local buses for free throughout August under a new government-backed scheme aimed at helping families cope with rising living costs.
The plan, announced by Chancellor Rachel Reeves, will allow every child aged between five and 15 to ride participating local bus services in England at no cost from August 1 to August 31. The government says the initiative forms part of a wider “Great British Summer Savings” package designed to ease pressure on household budgets during the school holidays.
