Chiefs WR Kadarius Toney aims to keep building as postseason approaches

In Week 16’s victory of the Seattle Seahawks, Kadarius Toney played his most snaps in a single game for the Kansas City Chiefs since Week 10 of the 2022 NFL season.

It was just his second week back in his return from a hamstring injury that took him out for several weeks. Toney is still working up to an even more prominent role in the offense after his trade to the team back in October. In the interim, he’s just grateful to be back on the field and to have an opportunity to contribute.

“It felt good,” Toney said. “As much as I can contribute to the team, that’s my job.”

Toney scored his second career touchdown in Week 16, owning more touchdowns in five games played with Kansas City than in a dozen games played with New York. This particular touchdown didn’t look quite as clean as the first as Toney bobbled the pass from Mahomes. As soon as he secured the ball, instinct took over for the wide receiver.

“It was an obvious like reverse, but when I got the ball, (I) just did what I did best,” Toney said. “Just find a way into the endzone.”

With two weeks left to go in the NFL’s regular season, Toney’s goal is simple. He wants to further build on what he’s accomplished so far with his new team. If he does that, he believes he can help them achieve their end-of-season goal of winning another Super Bowl.

“Really, just keep building,” Toney explained. “We’re on a roll (and) we’ve got a goal at the end of the year. We’re just trying to get there right now.”
