Kansas City Chiefs rookies, quarterbacks and select injured players are set to report to the team’s 2023 training camp at Missouri Western State University in St. Joseph, Missouri beginning Tuesday, July 18th.
While the players aren’t set to begin practices open to the public until this weekend, a select few will get situated at training camp beginning today. Physical examinations, conditioning tests, closed practices, and team meetings will all begin right away.
The team brings in all of the rookies early so that they can get a feel for how the team does things at camp. Injured players who are still rehabbing are also brought in early to go through medical evaluations.
This marks the 13th season of the Chiefs traveling to St. Joe for training camp. Kansas City has elected to pick up the option years to keep training camp at the school before a new deal will need to be negotiated.
Chiefs coach Andy Reid, QB Patrick Mahomes and select players are expected to be made available for media interviews beginning this afternoon. A few of the team’s top rookies could even be made available ahead of their first training camp.
Typically, the team will begin with three straight days of practice closed to the public before the rest of the veterans arrive. The remainder of the team will report to camp on Friday, July 21st ahead of their first open practice on Sunday, July 23rd.
