Chiefs HC Andy Reid spoke about WR Rashee Rice’s consistent growth

The Kansas City Chiefs receivers’ room had many critics questioning whether or not the team needs a veteran option. After three games, some questions are still present, but there have been some players beginning to separate themselves as prime options for Patrick Mahomes.

Chiefs head coach Andy Reid has closely monitored his young players over the last few months and has been impressed with their progress. Rookie receiver Rashee Rice was drafted with a lot of hype behind his early relationship with Mahomes and appears to be turning the corner on bringing that into the team game plan.

Reid addressed his thoughts on Rice with reporters during Wednesday’s press conference.

“Yeah, I mean, he’s growing again in front of us here,” Reid said. “He’s one of the young guys. But it looks like he’s getting more on the same page with Pat (Patrick Mahomes). Pat spends a lot of time with him. He’s got the right attitude. He wants to be good. And so it’s consistency. So he’d had a nice game, he’s coming off a nice game and now presented again, and take another step. This week. That’s the attitude you got to have, and he seems to have that.”

Rice finished Sunday’s game with five catches for 59 yards, contributing smoothly in the passing game. He seeks these kinds of weekly efforts to continue getting more opportunities in the game plan.
