Chiefs HC Andy Reid reveals cheeseburger moment from a commercial shoot with Patrick Mahomes

The Kansas City Chiefs aren’t strangers to appearing in commercials throughout the season. The State Farm commercials featuring quarterback Patrick Mahomes and head coach Andy Reid are consistent favorites, with the latter often stealing the show.

The hilariously discussed commercial is often the ad featuring Mahomes, Reid, and Jake from State Farm discussing insurance at lunch. Reid’s comedic timing in eating cheeseburgers and attempting to take Mahomes’ nuggets stand out as the Chiefs all-time winningest head coach revealed a recent special behind-the-scenes moment via Complex’s X account.

“We did a hamburger shoot, and I made a pact to myself just being a cheeseburger sewer that I wouldn’t use the spit bucket,” Reid explained. “After about the 60th cheeseburger, I had to go there. Yeah, I had to go there. So I used a spit bucket. That wasn’t the funniest, but the funniest part was the producer here.

“He wanted me to try to talk and do my lines with my mouth full of the cheeseburger and Pat’s right in front of me. So I’m trying to do this, and there’s cheeseburgers flying everywhere at these guys, and they couldn’t hold it straight. I mean, they were dying laughing. Finally, Pat goes cut it. We’re not doing this.”

Jake from State Farm commented on the shared video of Reid suggesting the ‘nuggies’ nickname as his favorite part of the commercial. Only time will tell if there will be more acting opportunities for the Chiefs’ legendary head coach.
