Matt Taylor expects Chiedozie Ogbene to remain with Rotherham United beyond the January transfer window if clubs including Swansea City do not significantly improve their offers for the forward.
The Swans identified Ogbene as their number-one target ahead of the winter window and are understood to have submitted a bid for the Republic of Ireland international earlier this month.
That approach was knocked back by the Millers who are also understood to have rejected an offer for the same player from Championship rivals Millwall.
Ogbene's current contract expires in the summer. The 25-year-old has opted against signing fresh terms with the South Yorkshire outfit, meaning he could potentially leave Rotherham for nothing following the conclusion of the current campaign.
And head coach Taylor says there have been no further approaches for Ogbene this week following the early flurry of activity in the mid-season market.
“There has been interest in Chieo and those bids were turned down,” Taylor told the Rotherham Advertiser.
“It’s a case now of seeing if anything comes back but there’s been nothing this week.
“If the numbers don’t move greatly on Chieo, we expect players to remain with ourselves.
"We know there are certain situations where, as the window goes on, as always, we have to make the best decision for ourselves and the football club."
Ogbene has featured 24 times for Rotherham in all competitions so far this season, scoring seven goals.
