Cheryl says she was 'hell bent' on having a sibling for Bear and considered adoption

Girls Aloud star Cheryl says she was once "hell bent" on having a sibling for Bear - but now she's not so sure.

The singer, 39, who made her debut in 2.22 A Ghost Story on Saturday, shares her son, five, with One Direction star Liam Payne, 29.

The couple split after Bear was born with Cheryl saying in 2020 she was considering using a sperm donor to give her son a sibling.

However, she now says a number of factors have made her unsure about becoming a mum again.

"I was so hell bent on having another before because Bear was at that perfect age. I think if you have that couple year age gap, you can still do things with them together where they're both engaged and both interested," she said.

"Now that the pandemic happened in the in the meantime, and there's such an age gap, and I'm a bit older. I'm not so sure, honestly."

Cheryl hasn't ruled out motherhood altogether, saying she would consider adoption.

However, she did say she questioned whether it was "sensible to bring a soul into all of this madness" after the pandemic, reports MailOnline.

The former Girls Aloud singer made her West End debut on the weekend in 2.22 in London after saying she was 'excited' to return to the limelight after taking a few years away from the showbiz scene to focus on motherhood.

Cheryl has reportedly wanted to 'get back on the scene' for a while now but previous comeback projects haven't worked out.

A source told new! magazine: "Cheryl wants to reinvent herself in 2023. She was on TV all of the time, she was the sweetheart of the nation. But she stepped back for a while to focus on being a mother."

The star's theatre debt was delayed on Saturday – but only due to the popular show being sold out.

The former X Factor judge took over from ex-Love Island presenter Laura Whitmore in the role of Jenny in the supernatural thriller.

Cheryl's debut was meant to be at 7:30pm on Saturday at the Lyric theatre in Piccadilly in London.

However, the show didn't kick off until just under 15 minutes later as it took slightly longer due to the show being sold out, Cheryl's rep told the Mirror.
