Chennai Grandmasters: Pranav bags Masters berth with Challenger title win

CHENNAI: V Pranav won the Challenger section of Chennai Grandmasters tournament to make it a double sweet for home state Tamil Nadu.

Pranav (Elo 2602) was rewarded for his solid play in the tournament. He won the first four games and drew the next three to tally 5.5 points in seven rounds. The fourth seed won the title after drawing with Leon Mendonca. The latter needed a victory to clinch the top spot.
