CHENNAI: Police have registered 376 cases and arrested 385 people in a drive conducted against sale of banned tobacco products across the city in the last two weeks.
The drive was carried out from April 10 to April 23. Gutka and tobacco packets weighing 1,067 kg, 91 kg mava and 3,070 in cash were seized..
Police arrested Vijayakumar, Rajagopal, 21,both from Triplicane, Jothipandi, 20, of Ilayangudi with 123 kg of banned gutka tobacco products..
The police have promised severe action against people who stock up and sell the banned products
