Chelsea winger and American star Christian Pulisic has given a hint at his approval to a potential Woody Johnson takeover with his message amid a potential Blues takeover bid.
According to a report on Monday evening from ESPN, Johnson has already spoken to Raine Group, the organisation in charge of the bidding process as he looks to purchase the European champions.
Abramovich confirmed he is looking to sell Chelsea last week in a statement on the club's website, with several interested parties already being mentioned. The Russian billionaire has reportedly put a £3billion price-tag on the west London club as he ends his 19-year affiliation at Stamford Bridge - though that may come down due to the current situation.
Johnson joins a list of 1,063 owners who reportedly could match the required valuation in the forthcoming weeks and months.
Despite optimism that any takeover could be conducted quite quickly in this scenario, as alluded to by Premier League Chief Executive Richard Masters, the lack of imminent sanctions on Abramovich could give him some wiggle room to hold out till the summer at least until he finds someone he approves will continue his incredible work.
"I think the quickest one we have ever done is 10 days but that’s not to say that record cannot be beaten," Masters told the Financial Times Business of Football Summit.
"Normally it will take a number of weeks but that will depend on the complexity of the deal really and the number of potential owners.
"Provided that the information is easily digestible, easily understandable and gives us the right answers, it can be done relatively quickly.
"It is the right decision, the situation has escalated incredibly quickly over the last seven days and he has come to the right conclusion that it is unsustainable in the current environment.
"It is a welcome decision and obviously for the sake of everyone, including the fans, the sooner the selling process concludes and completes, the sooner everyone will have certainty."
With all the speculation continuing with new people popping up every day in this new ownership search with a Turkish Billionaire quietly confident he's winning the race according to the latest, it remains to be seen if it will be an American consortium or a person of different nationality who succeeds Abramovich in the long-term.
What the players would make of any potential owners could go some way in helping influence a final outcome and Pulisic, coming off the back of a impressive outing at Burnley, would almost certainly be relishing a Johnson ownership for one particular reason.
The 23-year-old has been a lifelong New York Jets (NFL) fan and was even present at their London game last season when they played the Atlanta Falcons at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in October 2021.
When asked whose his favourite NFL team is in Chelsea's latest fifth stand chat series, he replied with something that coincides well with recent news developments surrounding the ownership talk.
He replied: 'Go Jets!'
His support of the New York based franchise, who have underperformed for many seasons now with their neighbours NY Giants considered as the bigger team due to their Super Bowl win history comparison, may give the fanbase an indication of where his stance is regarding who he would like to see own Chelsea Football Club.
