Chelsea strike new agreement amid shirt sponsor concern as 'premium design' revealed

Chelsea have announced that Oman Air has become the club's official airline partner. The deal will see the airline join up with the club for the next three years.

The Blues confirmed the partnership deal on Friday morning. A club statement read: "Chelsea Football Club is delighted to announce Oman Air as our new Official Airline Partner in a multi-year deal.

"Flying to more than 50 destinations worldwide, including daily flights from Muscat to London, Oman Air has a global footprint which aligns with Chelsea’s far-reaching fanbase, and offers award-winning customer experiences.

"As part of the launch, and to celebrate its 30th anniversary this year, Oman Air and Chelsea have worked together to design a premium co-branded plane livery, which will feature as part of Oman Air’s fleet later this year.

"This is Oman Air’s first-ever Premier League club partnership, making its branding visible at Stamford Bridge and across the club’s digital platforms, alongside exclusive experiences and events."

Chief executive Chris Jursaek said: "We are very pleased to welcome Oman Air as our Official Airline Partner. We have a shared ambition for innovation and success both on and off the pitch, and we are excited to bring this partnership to life for our fans around the world."

The news comes amid continued uncertainty surrounding the shirt sponsor at Stamford Bridge. The deal with Three was expected to come to an end at the end of last season, yet the sponsor remains on the Chelsea website.

News that emerged claiming online casino Stake could be the next sponsor was met with a great deal of criticism. The Premier League's recent agreement that front-of-shirt gambling sponsors would not be allowed from the 2025/26 season means that such partnerships will be banned very soon. Stake's sponsorship was also greeted with frustration from supporters.

Chelsea Supporters Trust noted: "An online casino and betting company as the primary shirt sponsor is not in line with the commitment of growing Chelsea FC as a ‘world class’ organisation. “We understand Chelsea’s desire to maximise revenue streams across the whole club. Whilst we accept that it will happen, it must not take place at the expense of the club’s values.”

football.london understands the club will listen to fan sentiment but that there is also a reality to deal with considering the sponsorship packages that have been presented. However, an announcement has yet to be made.
