Chelsea are set for a meeting with Mason Mount's representatives in the next few hours to discuss the future of the midfielder. That's according to Fabrizio Romano, who claims that the 24-year-old is looking for clarity over the situation, with uncertainty surrounding his position at Stamford Bridge.
Mount has been a key player for the Blues since breaking into the first-team from the academy ranks, winning the club's Player of the Year trophy twice. However, the past season has been far from kind to the England international, who struggled to find his best form amid host of injuries.
Add to that the issues surrounding his contract and long-term future at Chelsea, which has been rumbling in the background for some time. Mount has just one-year remaining on his deal at Stamford Bridge, having failed to negotiate an agreement over an extension at this stage.
The latest offer appears to have been late last year, however there has been no breakthrough since and an exit has been edging closer. There's been plenty of interest in the Cobham Academy graduate, but Manchester United have been the team making the biggest push.
Three bids have been rejected so far though, with reports claiming United have switched their focus elsewhere after failing to reach an agreement. With those recent reports, Fabrizio Romano claims that Mount's representatives are set for crucial talks with Chelsea in the next few hours.

The midfielder's current stance is said to be agreeing a move away now or he will leave on a free next summer, ruling out the possibility of a new contract. Whether that and the meeting will be enough to push through the transfer remains to be seen, but time appears to be ticking.
