Chelsea set for double midfield blow as Jude Bellingham and Konrad Laimer transfer decisions made

Chelsea are set to miss out on England star Jude Bellingham and in-demand RB Leipzig midfielder Konrad Laimer, according to reports.

The Blues remain linked with talents in the middle of the part from across the world ahead of Graham Potter's first transfer window at Stamford Bridge.

Jorginho and Matteo Kovacic, 30 and 28 respectively, occupied the midfield during Chelsea's final match before the World Cup break in their 1-0 defeat to Newcastle.

According to Sky Sports Germany reporter, Florian Plettenberg, Graham Potter could miss out on two potential targets. Liverpool, Manchester City and Real Madrid are all among the clubs looking to sign Bellingham.

The 19-year-old has attracted interest from across Europe, with reports elsewhere suggesting that Todd Boehly was monitoring the Englishman, but he is said to be the number one target for Jurgen Klopp.

Liverpool, as well as the Blues, are also in the hunt for the midfielder but German giants Bayern Munich are said to be in the mix. As per Plettenberg, it is Julian Nagelsmann's side who are leading the chase to sign the Austrian.

Stalwart N'Golo Kante was ruled out of the tournament due to a muscle injury as his troubles continue with Chelsea. The Frenchman is out of contract in south London in the summer and clubs are already lurking to snap the 2016-17 PFA Player of the Year.

The 31-year-old is one of a number of midfielders in the ranks at Cobham with Denis Zakaria arriving on loan from Juventus. The Swiss international came to Chelsea under Thomas Tuchel but has found playing time hard to come by but the move from the German shows that there is an issue emerging at the heart of the squad.

Bellingham has established himself as one of England's best young players at Borussia Dortmund. The midfielder scored in five of Dortmund's six Champions League matches and has since proved his importance to Gareth Southgate's side featuring in their opening two World Cup matches.
