Chelsea are ready to step up their chase for Manchester City forward Raheem Sterling should Romelu Lukaku secure his return to Inter Milan this summer.
The Belgium international has been widely linked with a return to the Italian outfit, who he helped fire to the Serie A title a little over a year ago. And the Blues have now formulated their plan to secure Sterling as his replacement at Stamford Bridge.
It comes as Chelsea have suffered a huge blow to their hopes of signing Barcelona winger Ousmane Dembele after he responded to fans while on holiday. And the Blues' interest in Napoli defender Kalidou Koulibaly could result in Luciano Spaletti resigning from his role as manager of the Italian club.

Sterling transfer plan
Chelsea will pursue Manchester City forward Raheem Sterling if an agreement to send Romelu Lukaku back to Inter Milan can be reached.
The London club will meet with Inter chief executive Beppe Marotta again on Sunday in the hopes of reaching an agreement that will see Belgium striker Lukaku return to San Siro after only a year at Stamford Bridge.
Todd Boehly, the new owner of Chelsea, will then ramp up his club's efforts to persuade City to sell Sterling. The Premier League winners were unable to reach an agreement with the England forward on a new contract, which will expire at the end of next season.
Blues boss Thomas Tuchel is said to be a big fan of Sterling – and the player is also thought to be interested in returning to London.
Dembele blow
Ousmane Dembele has delivered a huge blow to Chelsea's hopes of signing him this summer.
The Frenchman was spotted by fans while on holiday during the summer break. And, football.london reports, he was asked three questions in French by one particular supporter: "Are you staying in Barcelona? Heard anything about Chelsea? You do not want to work with Tuchel?"
And Dembele's response will not reassure Chelsea fans that he will be arriving at Stamford Bridge this summer. He replied: "Yes, I’m fine in Barcelona."
Koulibaly move cast into doubt
Napoli manager Luciano Spaletti has reportedly told club bosses he will resign should the club sell Chelsea target Kalidou Koulibaly this summer.
The Blues are desperate for reinforcements in defence following the departures of Antonio Rudiger and Andreas Christensen and Koulibaly is one of the names who has been mentioned. But, according to football.london, reports coming out of Italy suggest Spaletti would be loathed to sell one of his star players after already losing club legend Lorenzo Insigne this summer.
And that may just put the brakes on any move for the defender by Chelsea this summer, although his current contract does run out in a year's time.
